Aritsan Cheeses & Yogurts

This week we celebrate Artisan Cheese & Yogurts!  Find wonderful products made from Durham and Freeports very own small batch creamery, Spring Day Creamery and Winter Hill Farm!

Sarah Spring of Spring Day Creamery will be at market.  Stop and sample her delicious cheese and talk to her about her cheese marking She is bringing along yogurts from Winter Hill Farm.

We are thrilled to have them join us and offer dairy at our market!  Come on down and support super local,  hand made, artisan products from them and other great vendors!

Spring Day Creamery is primarily focused on French traditional cheeses.

Sarah’s “Spring Day Blues,” won 2nd place in this year’s American Cheese Society (ACS) North American competition.

Cheese is carefully handmade in small batches and is subsequently turned, brushed, or pierced, until it is ripened to perfection.

Spring Day Creamery’s raw milk supplier is L & P Bisson and Sons  in Topsham, Maine, and occasionally Winter Hill Farm in Freeport. Pasteurized milk comes from Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine.
Sarah likes to experiment. It is is not uncommon for customers at the farmers’ market to discover cheeses in her cooler labeled “New Cheese, ” with a request for customer feedback.

Winter Hill Farm produces fresh, unpasteurized milk, whole milk yogurt, kefir and aged raw milk cheese that is sold here on the farm to regular customers as well as to a number of health food stores in the area.

Yogurt - We seem to have quite a dedicated following for our yogurt. It isn't unusual for one of us to hear' "I LOVE your yogurt!" or "That is the best yogurt!" from random people when they find out that we are the farmers at Winter Hill. Our yogurt is thick and mildly sour. The culture we use is described as having a ‘mild yogurt flavor’, and a ‘smooth heavy body’. At our house, we love it on pancakes, alongside curry dishes or with a simple drizzle of maple syrup for dessert. Yum!
